An 85-year-old woman recently became the victim of a scam involving two criminals who posed as maintenance workers. They gained access to her apartment under the pretext of checking the pipes. Once inside, the scammers managed to convince her to put her jewelry into a bag, which they then took with them when they left her home.
The incident occurred in the early afternoon. According to the woman, one of the men engaged her in conversation to distract her while the other searched her home for valuables. It wasn’t until after they had left that she realized her gold was missing.
Residents of the building are urged to be cautious and report any suspicious activity immediately to the authorities. Police investigations are ongoing, and they advise not to allow entry to any unverified maintenance personnel.
The authorities emphasized the importance of verifying the identity of individuals claiming to perform repairs or checks within residential areas. They encourage residents to contact official representatives if uncertain.
