Gösta, 80, Prepares for the Snow: ‘I’ve Stocked Up’

Gösta, who is 80 years old, is tired of being snowed in every winter. Living in a rural area with limited access to essential services, he has learned to plan ahead for harsh winters. “I’ve stocked up on food, firewood, and other necessities because you never know how long the roads will be blocked,” he says. Having experienced several winters where he was unable to leave his house for days, Gösta believes preparation is key to enduring the Swedish winter.

Gösta’s stock includes canned goods, long-lasting vegetables like potatoes and carrots, plenty of firewood, and a backup generator. He mentions, “It’s not just about comfort, it’s about safety. If the power goes out or if we’re snowed in for a week, we need to be ready.”

Gösta’s proactive approach is a reminder of the importance of preparation, especially for those living in remote areas who may face the risk of being isolated during severe weather conditions.
