After being shut down unexpectedly 15 years ago, the Tullinge water plant is on the verge of reopening. Local authorities are currently evaluating the necessary steps to bring the facility back into operation. The decision to close the plant in 2008 was due to contamination concerns. Since then, the area’s water supply has relied on alternative sources, which led to increased costs and logistical challenges.
The proposed reopening is expected to benefit the community by providing a more sustainable and cost-effective water supply. “We are excited about the possibility of reopening the plant,” said a local official. “This would be a significant improvement for the community’s infrastructure.”
Environmental assessments and safety checks are currently underway to ensure that the plant meets modern standards. If all goes as planned, operations could resume by the end of the year.
