The Walpurgis celebration at Rålambshovsparken park in Stockholm, popularly known as ‘Rålis’, exceeded all expectations this year. According to municipal police officer Ola Åkesson, between 15,000 and 20,000 young people gathered at the site during the festivities — a spectacular increase compared to the previous edition, when attendance hovered around 2,000 to 3,000 people.
The massive gathering was accompanied by incidents involving the use of fireworks, excessive alcohol consumption and public disorder, forcing security forces to significantly intensify surveillance in the area.
‘Young people made their way here throughout the entire night,’ Åkesson explained, highlighting the scale of an event that no one had anticipated would reach such proportions. Local police were forced to deploy considerable resources to manage a crowd that far exceeded any prior estimates.
