Last month, the trial began for one of the most devastating attacks recorded in Tumba, a locality south of Stockholm, where a hand grenade exploded inside a residence causing extremely severe injuries to a woman who, as a direct consequence of the blast, had to undergo the amputation of both legs.
At the opening of the oral hearing held this Wednesday, one of the six defendants in the case surprised the court by openly admitting his participation in the events. The accused confessed to being the person who threw the grenade into the home, marking a significant turning point in the judicial proceedings.
A total of six individuals are facing charges in connection with this incident, the consequences of which have irreversibly altered the victim’s life. The case has caused widespread shock in the area and has reignited the debate over organized crime-related violence in the municipalities of the Stockholm metropolitan area.
The court will now determine the degree of responsibility of each of the defendants over the coming sessions of the trial.
