The Stockholm Region has decided to provide additional financial support to its maternity care system ahead of the summer, with an extraordinary contribution of 50 million Swedish kronor. This extra funding, which will be disbursed starting June 1, will be distributed equally among the seven maternity clinics operating in the region.
The measure responds to the need to guarantee quality care during the summer months, a period that traditionally places greater pressure on healthcare services due to reduced staffing levels during the holiday season and the increased number of births recorded at that time of year.
With this investment, regional authorities aim to ensure that none of the clinics become overwhelmed, and that both mothers and newborns receive the necessary care without delays or any reduction in the quality of service.
