Mother’s Day will be celebrated in a very special way at the Swedish church in Skärholmen, Stockholm, with a concert featuring renowned artist Siw Malmkvist alongside the so-called ‘Street Choir’ — a choral group marking ten years since its founding.
The choir was born a decade ago with a clear purpose: to extend a helping hand to those living in situations of social exclusion and vulnerability, including people experiencing homelessness. Over the years, music has been the tool used to transform lives and build bonds among those who need it most.
SVT had the opportunity to meet with Siw Malmkvist during one of the rehearsals ahead of the concert, and the artist did not hesitate to express what participating in this project means to her. ‘Music and the joy it brings can change a person’s life,’ she stated with conviction.
The anniversary thus becomes much more than a celebration: it stands as living proof of how collective singing can serve as a bridge toward a more dignified life for those who have gone through times of great hardship.
