This Tuesday, the verdict has been announced against the married couple accused of murdering the husband’s mother in Danderyd during the summer of last year. The case has shocked public opinion due to the chilling manner in which, according to the police investigation, the two suspects acted.
Investigator Cecilia Jättner Barringer made no attempt to hide her unease about the nature of the case: “It is a disturbing thought to know that they spent a great deal of time with her while, at the same time, they were planning all of this,” the officer stated, referring to the apparent normalcy the couple maintained with the victim in the period leading up to the crime.
The police investigation pointed from the outset to the murder being premeditated, which considerably aggravates the charges against the defendants. The victim was the husband’s own mother, adding an especially unsettling dimension to the case.
Judicial authorities at the competent court delivered their ruling today, a decision eagerly awaited by both legal circles and residents of Danderyd, a town located north of Stockholm.
