A fire that started on the balcony of a residential building in the Kista district of Stockholm has led to a formal charge of aggravated arson. The blaze broke out in February of this year and quickly spread to the attic of the building, producing a thick cloud of smoke that covered much of the surrounding area.
The flames prompted the intervention of emergency services, who worked for hours to bring the fire under control and prevent further damage to the building and neighboring properties. The incident caused significant alarm among residents in the area.
Following an investigation carried out by the authorities, prosecutors have decided to press charges against a woman identified as the alleged perpetrator of the deliberately set fire. A charge of aggravated arson carries severe penalties under Swedish law, given the serious risk such acts pose to human life.
