Some people feel most at home in open, wide, and unobstructed landscapes. Achieving that kind of natural environment is not always straightforward — but it turns out that water buffaloes can lend a helping hand. This Thursday, twenty specimens of the Asian variant of these animals were released in Huddinge, on the outskirts of Stockholm, with the goal of managing vegetation and helping to maintain that type of habitat.
Water buffaloes are well known for their ability to graze in wet and densely vegetated areas where other grazing animals struggle to operate. Their presence helps control the growth of grass and shrubs, promoting biodiversity and keeping the landscape open in a natural and sustainable way.
This initiative is part of local efforts to preserve and restore the natural environments of the Stockholm region through traditional methods that respect the ecosystem.
