This week, Stockholm’s imposing Avicii Arena was transformed into a grand choral stage as nearly 3,300 students from 15 music schools across the country came together to deliver a memorable evening dedicated to choral music.
Among the participants was Adam Brandberg, a 12-year-old from the Nacka music classes, who described the experience with a mix of emotions he could hardly contain. “I’m a little nervous, but a lot of adrenaline has entered my body,” the boy admitted before taking the stage.
The event brought together hundreds of children’s and young people’s voices that filled every corner of the venue, turning one of Scandinavia’s largest arenas into a fleeting temple of choral music. For many of these students, performing in a space of such magnitude was a unique and unrepeatable experience within their musical education.
The initiative highlights the deep roots of the choral tradition in Sweden, where music schools play a central role in the artistic education of young people, introducing them from an early age to the collective practice of singing.
