While the district is becoming safer and indicators of severe criminality are improving, residents themselves report that open drug use and dealing have not been eliminated — they have simply moved to other nearby areas. This phenomenon, common when police pressure intensifies at a specific location, is a growing concern for those living in the zones now absorbing that activity.
The Hallonbergslyftet plan has involved significant investment by the municipality to transform both the physical environment of the neighborhood and its social fabric, with measures ranging from urban renewal to strengthened social services and increased police presence. The results in terms of organized crime are tangible, but residents’ voices serve as a reminder that the sense of security also depends on what happens on the street every day.
