Weather Alert in Norrtälje: SMHI Warns of Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorms

Swedish meteorological authorities have placed the Norrtälje region on alert ahead of incoming heavy rainfall accompanied by electrical storm activity. According to SMHI, Sweden’s national institute of meteorology and hydrology, abundant precipitation is expected throughout Thursday, with recorded levels potentially ranging between 40 and 70 millimeters — and even higher values cannot be ruled out at certain locations.

Episodes of intense rainfall of this nature can lead to rapid water accumulation in both urban and rural areas, disrupting road traffic and generating a risk of localised flooding. Authorities are urging residents to exercise extreme caution throughout the day and to closely monitor ongoing weather updates.
